Assassin’s Creed Valhalla ‘Gameplay’ trailer unveiled, shows hardly any actual gameplay

One of the highlights of the Inside Xbox showcase was supposed to be the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gameplay reveal. WIth all the hype it had built from the BossLogic setting reveal to the official announcement, people wanted to see and know more about the next installment.

It was supposed to be THE highlight. Only it wasn’t, and boy did Social Media do a number on both Ubisoft and Microsoft.

Judge it for yourself, you can check out the first look gameplay trailer below:

By definition, a gameplay trailer is supposed to show how the game will be played – how it moves, the mechanics, combat, etc. Most, if not all, was arguably lacking from the trailer posted.

Maybe it was marketed wrongly? Miscommunication about one party wanting to do this and the other wanting to do that?

Whatever the case may be, Creative Director Ashraf Ismail was quick to explain, clarifying things for the fans who were unfortunately disappointed after all the anticipation.

To be fair, there’s still a lot of time to properly market the game, in-depth gameplay trailers included, so the overreaction of the community may have been blown out of proportion. Ashraf Ismail promises the community that Valhalla has a “long marketing campaign ahead” and we will be getting a more in depth look at the game in the coming months.

If Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was anything to go by, then Valhalla should be a great outing by all accounts. Raids, settlements, and even Viking Rap Battles? Take our money.

We may have to wait a bit more until Ubisoft is ready to fully blow us away, but for now, we’ll be waiting for that next gameplay trailer with actual gameplay.
