Square Enix will debut several new titles in July and August
E3 was supposed to have been the time where a lot of the major industry announcements would have happened. With the event, along with almost every physical gathering, cancelled due to COVID-19, companies have been forced to go online for their presentations.
Square Enix, in particular, has mentioned that it possibly be showcasing ‘several’ announcements around July to August, if a recent interview is to believed.
According to an interview with ‘No Investment, No Life’ and translated via Gematsu, the company is planning to debut projects around July to August. You can view the excerpt below:
Question: Normally, you would announce new games at E3, but how has coronavirus affected your plans this year?
Answer: We would normally announce new games at E3, yes. We had planned to have a press conference as a replacement event, but were unable to do so since assets were not complete. We’ll be announcing new titles individually as the timing permits. Several will debut around July to August.
While there is no indication as to what these titles will be, some predictions are swirling around as to a possible Final Fantasy XVI announcement, at maybe even an update on the second part of the FFVII Remake. More details on the next gen title Project Athia as well?
One thing that has been announced recently is a Kingdom Hearts rhythm game called Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, which is scheduled to release this year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
