Kate Bishop joins Marvel’s Avengers as the first post-launch DLC character
Ahead of the launch on September 4, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have dropped a load of new information for Marvel’s Avengers, starting with the reveal that Kate Bishop will be the first post-launch hero to be added into the game.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Kate Bishop will be joining the team and will be voiced by none other than Ashly Burch, also known as Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn. Entitled “Operation Marvel’s Avengers: Kate Bishop — Taking AIM”, it will take place right after the “Reassemble” single-player campaign and will feature a villain for Kate to challenge.
Like Kate, Hawkeye will also have a separate campaign called “Marvel’s Avengers: Hawkeye — Future Imperfect” and he will be voiced by TV veteran Giacomo Gianniotti.
The latest War Table was also shown, which details all of the other missions that players can look forward to when the game goes live, but more importantly, highlights the end-game content, which was one of the biggest question marks of the game.
As detailed in the PlayStation Blog, here are some of the end-game activities players can take part in:
- Events – “Events are a way we’re keeping the Avengers Initiative fresh and new. Some events will take place over a week, and others will be seasonal. Some will have cosmetics and gear that are only available to earn for a limited time. We’re adding new locations to explore, with friendly faces (and voices!) you’ll recognize!”
- SHIELD Substation Zero – “SHIELD Substation Zero is a new Resistance Outpost led by Commander Maria Hill, who is voiced by industry veteran Jennifer Hale. Available shortly after launch, the Substation opens as a social space after temporal anomalies begin forming across the world. You’ll have to help Maria Hill investigate the source of these disturbances, known as Tachyon Rifts. We’ll save more details on the missions and the special gear you can earn for another time.”
- AIM’s Secret Lab – “This will drop shortly after launch and be a true test of late-game co-op teamplay. Only available once a week, the Lab must be completed within a set time window and concludes in a huge boss fight that will take some strategic thinking from your four-player team.”
- Mega Hives – “Mega Hive also arrives shortly after launch if you’re looking for a meaty solo challenge. This weekly mission type will test your full roster as you fight your way through descending floors with increasingly difficult enemies. When one hero goes down, another will join. After your full roster is defeated, you’ll need to start over from the beginning.”
There was also a short tribute to Chadwick Boseman at the start of the War Table presentation, which hints that there could possibly be some Black Panther related content announcement soon, maybe one of the playable characters down the line. To show respect for the fallen star, the content shown during the presentation was changed.
Marvel’s Avengers is scheduled to release on September 4 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
