Even with The Last of Us Part II winning the multiple Game of the Year awards, the title of highest rated game of 2020 across all platforms was Persona 5 Royal according to aggregator site Metacritic, scoring a 95, which is frankly quite a ridiculously high score considering the game is just an updated re-release.

In Metacritic’s Best Video Games of 2020 feature, Persona 5 Royal tops the list this year. Last year, Resident Evil 2 took home the prize with a 93, Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018 with a 97, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in 2017 with a 97.
