The new Switch model, whatever it will be called, has received another report that it could be out sometime this year, packing a 7-inch 720P OLED screen from Samsung which is said to output 4K ultra high definition when docked. That’s a massive resolution difference between the 2 modes, and 7 inches could basically mean a thinner bezel than what the Switch currently has.

Bloomberg reports that this new Nintendo Switch model will have a bigger Samsung OLED screen that should “prop up demand in time for the holidays”. Samsung is reportedly set to mass produce these displays by June and is scheduled to be shipped out a target of nearly 1 million units to assemblers just a month after.

Bloomberg also points out that Nintendo decided to proceed with rigid OLED panels, which is “a cheaper but less flexible alternative to the type commonly used for high-end smartphones,” and “will consume less battery, offer higher contrast and possibly faster response time when compared to the Switch’s current liquid-crystal display.”

Right now the Switch is one of, if not the best-selling console among its peers in the PS5 and Xbox Series, already passing lifetime sales of 79.87 Million units as of 2020. If the report holds true, we can expect a bigger surge of demand especially during the Holidays.
