Dead Space Remake brings back Gunner Wright to reprise role as Isaac Clarke
Development for the upcoming Dead Space Remake is moving along smoothly, with Motive Studios scheduling a livestream to walk us through the development process. Senior Producer Philippe Duchame and Creative Director Roman Compos-Oriola mentioned that they’re striving to stay true to the original artistic vision of what made the game so great in the first place, which is certainly good news for fans.
One big surprise during the show was the fact that Gunner Wright, the original voice actor of Isaac Clarke, will be reprising his role in the game.
While you might largely remember Isaac from the first game to be largely silent save for some grunts of pain, the remake will be doing something quite different this time around, allowing Clarke to talk under specific conditions. After all, Dead Space was all about the isolation in space to take home the atmospheric and visceral terror in the first game.
By implementing these conditions, it gives more character to Isaac in the Dead Space Remake without overstepping their bounds, once again sticking true to the vision of the original game.
In other parts of the livestream, it was also discussed that the “Dismemberment” system will be seeing a huge improvement, flesh will also get stripped off along with the limbs as a sort of damage indicator, making the whole experience feel much more authentic.
Apart from that, a tweak to the zero-g system will also be made, allowing for a much more free movement range compared to the original.
Oh, and the devs have reiterated once again that the remake won’t have Microtransactions. Whew!
