PS5 DualSense Edge Controller Battery Life Will be ‘Moderately Shorter’

The DualSense Edge Controller for the PS5 isn’t launching until January 26, 2023, but as early as now, previews of Sony’s latest premium controller have started popping up, with comments on its overall design and performance.

Among the previews, The Verge pointed out that the new controller will offer a “moderately shorter” operating time, and offered a statement from Sony regarding this matter:

The DualSense Edge wireless controller’s operating time is moderately shorter than the original DualSense wireless controller because we’ve included many more features within the same form factor and ergonomic design as the original DualSense controller. We wanted to strike a good balance between wireless operating time and delivering robust, high-performance features. Additionally, the longer USB braided cable is also great for competitive players who prefer playing with a wired connection to avoid wireless interference – this option preserves battery life.

The DualSense Edge Wireless Controller will launch on January 26, 2023, and will retail for $199.99, or PHP12,490.
