Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 Will Run 720p on All Platforms
Fans looking forward to the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 should approach the title with caution, as early previews point out that the collection will run at 720p across all platforms.
This discovery was brought up by Nintendo Life, pointing out that the upcoming collection will target 720p across all platforms, as confirmed by Konami.
We asked about performance on PS5, Xbox Series X, plus the newly announced PS4 release; Konami clarified that the games will be targeting the same resolution (720p) and frame rate of the initial HD releases.
This is certainly disappointing, as Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 deserves so much more, especially on current hardware, even the Switch. It’s reported that this is the case because this collection is based on the PS3 and Xbox 360 HD collections from way back in 2012.
To further the point, some promotional material for the collection carries the 2012 copyright, basically stating that the decade-old remaster is in use.
The Nintendo Switch version is said to be running at 720p and capped at 30 fps, but since it is based on the 2012 versions, the PS5 and Xbox Series versions should run it at 60 fps, albeit at 720p as well. It would be nice to get confirmation about it, though.
Has this put a damper on your excitement for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1? Will you still buy it even if it is 720p?
