The official Dragon Ball account has announced that creator Akira Toriyama has passed away due to “acute subdural hematoma” at the age of 68.

A message was posted by the account, thanking everybody for their support for Akira Toriyama and all of his works of art. “Thanks to the support of so many people around the world, he has been able to continue his creative activities for over 45 years.”

“We hope that Akira Toriyama’s unique world of creation continues to be loved by everyone for a long time to come.”

A funeral service was already held with his family and a few relatives, and the official announcement requests to respect the peace of the family at this point, as they will not be accepting flowers or gifts of any kind.

The letter also reveals that Toriyama still has several works in progress.
