Dragon’s Dogma 2 Main Story About Similar Length to First Game

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is scheduled to release on March 22, and in anticipation of its release, previews with new information have started dropping from various media outlets worldwide.

As part of an interview with Game Informer, game director Hideaki Itsuno says that this latest outing will be roughly around the same length as the first game, which is around 37 hours for the main story campaign alone.

“For players that only focus on the things [to] go through the [game’s campaign], the playtime itself shouldn’t change that dramatically from the first game,” Itsuno mentions. According to HowLongToBeat, the average playtime of polled players who focused on the main objectives was about 37 hours, so the expected playtime for Dragon’s Dogma 2 should not deviate too much.

Completionists, on the other hand, will have a lot of things to look forward to.

“For the people that want to do everything, that see many things and are like, ‘Oh, I want to do this thing, oh that looks interesting,’ well, we put a lot of effort into adding as many elements as possible for this. There’s many things that could catch players’ attention and for those people, they will probably find their playtime significantly longer.”

According to HowLongToBeat, a full run of the game that exhausts all content is around 102 hours. With secrets like the Sphinx, which may evade even the most persistent of players, 100 hours could easily grow into 200 or maybe even more.
