The Silent Hill 2 Remake has not been received well by fans since it was first revealed, but the game is experiencing some sort of redemption arc as new information about it has surfaced thanks to recent previews.
Recently, Bloober Team Creative Director and Lead Designer Mateusz Lenart answered fan questions over X about the upcoming title. In response to an inquiry over game length, Lenart says that the first playthrough of the Silent Hill 2 Remake will be “around 16-18 hours” on average.
In comparison, the original PS2 game took around 8 hours for the main story alone, and a completionist run would be around 15 hours and 44 minutes. These numbers are based on data from HowLongToBeat, so the upcoming remake would be longer by all accounts.
Additionally, Lenart specified that a completionist run would take “more than 20h for sure.” Players looking for a lot of playtime from this game would certainly be happy to hear this, and Lenart even mentioned that this figure does not even count “new game plus and all endings.”
Lastly, and for fans of the original game, Lenart goes on to confirm that “all classic endings” are confirmed to make their return in the Silent Hill 2 Remake.
This new information about the upcoming Silent Hill 2 Remake is certainly welcome, as reception of the game has seen a complete turnaround since the latest story trailer was released. Early previews of the game point to how much it has improved and it could even be the remake that the original deserves.
