Developer and Publisher Nekki has revealed that Spine, the upcoming cinematic “gun fu” action game, will be released on an unspecified release date for PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and the newly announced Nintendo Switch 2.

Spine is a single-player, story-rich action game set in a cyberpunk future ruled by AI, where the player takes on the role of rebellious street artist Redline, accompanied by her sentient combat implant. Players join Redline as she challenges the autocratic regime of the Tensor Corporation while learning to trust each other and fight together.

Spine Gameplay Trailer

A new gameplay trailer showed off the free-flow Gun Fu combat that allows the protagonist, Redline, to execute seamless combos by parrying, disarming, and using enemies’ weapons against them. Players can creatively utilize the environment for cinematic action sequences, such as crushing enemies against surfaces, throwing them off ledges, or improvising melee weapons.

Game Director Dmitry Pimenov highlights the tactical awareness and cinematic experience, where players master combos and surroundings to feel like both star and director of their action movie.

The trailer also introduces the new Hardcore mode, a ‘no-hit’ challenge where Redline’s sunglasses remain intact only if players avoid all enemy attacks throughout the game.

Spine will be released for PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
