Corsair Void Wireless V2 Review

The Corsair Void Wireless V2 is the company’s latest entry in its audio line, following the sensational Void Wireless headset from many years ago. With so many audio peripherals out in the market today, it’s hard to choose one with the chops to back up its price, and considering this is a follow-up to one of its most popular headsets, it’s not hard to get excited.

Priced competitively at $119.99, the Void Wireless V2 is a fantastic piece of hardware that performs well considering its price point. It’s also packed with nice features, making it worth considering if you’re in the market for a new set of cans that won’t break the bank.

Corsair Void Wireless V2 Review

The Void Wireless V2 comes in a rather unremarkable box but has the brand’s signature yellow and black packaging. Some basic inclusions here, namely a USB-C charging cable and a USB-A dongle. The charging cable is quite basic and relatively short, so you’re probably better off using any other cable you may already have been using. The headset is wrapped in soft-touch fabric, which is nice and keeps the peripheral from dings or dust.

At first glance, the Void Wireless V2 sports a sleek design that’s very light to carry. Weighing in at 303g, don’t expect premium finishes because the headset is primarily built with hard plastic. Despite that, it’s not flimsy and doesn’t feel like any part would break accidentally with regular use. It also comes with minimal branding, and apart from the shiny Corsair logo on the earcups and branding on the headband, it’s very clean and unassuming. Of course, you have thin RGB strips on each side, to remind you that it is a gaming headset after all.

The Void Wireless V2 is equipped with plush foam on the earcups and the headband, ensuring a comfortable time with it. The headband is wide enough that wearing it doesn’t pinch my temples even with eyeglasses on, and it is light enough not to put immediate pressure on the top of my head. That said, it didn’t have the best seal, and when paired with the mesh earpads, the audio tends to leak out. Users with wider heads may need to stretch them out before wearing, so a bit of caution there. Should you need to adjust the earcups, you can simply pull down on the extensions ala AirPods Max.

All controls are on the left earcup—the power button, a volume lever, and a media control button. I’m not a fan of the buttons as they feel rather cheap, and you can hear them loudly every time you press them, especially when in use. They’re easy to find and well-placed, although I didn’t like how the volume control acted like a lever that resets its position whenever you adjust the volume. I would have preferred an actual wheel or a dial, allowing me to raise or lower the volume faster while feeling more natural.

As mentioned, the Void Wireless V2 comes with 2.4GHz and Bluetooth connections, which is fantastic for someone like me who wants a single peripheral to be used across multiple devices. During my time with the Void Wireless V2, I used the dongle on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, and with a tap of the power button, I would be able to almost instantly switch to Bluetooth on my PC, making it a great multiplatform headset. Lacking a 3.5mm jack or even a USB port to provide a wired connection, I hardly missed it, but it would have been nice to have the option.

The Void Wireless V2 also has a swivel flip-to-mute mic that you can pull down when needed, but it’s serviceable at best. I’ve yet to use a headset with a built-in mic that can at least sound as good as my Epos H6 Pro, but I can’t complain here because it serves its purpose. However, some of my friends told me they could hear even slight taps on my keyboard and mouse, making it a bit too sensitive for my taste. If you have an external mic, you’re better off using that.

The Void Wireless V2 is a gaming headset, after all, and it performed very well across various games, such as Monster Hunter Wilds, Call of Duty Black Ops 6, and more. The audio was above average, whether I was gaming on the PC or PS5. Although I felt it lacked a bit of bass, even at full volume, there was hardly any audio distortion. Offering additional value, it also comes with Dolby Atmos spatial audio, making the listening experience much more immersive and certainly competent compared to similarly priced headsets.

The Void Wireless V2 advertises a battery life of up to 65 hours with RGB off, which is quite good. While I didn’t count down to the hour, it did last me almost the whole week of use, averaging around 8-10 hours a day via the 2.4GHz connection. You’ll hardly need to charge this headset, and even with extreme use, charging it twice a week is still remarkable.

Overall, the Void Wireless V2 is a fantastic follow-up by Corsair. It is lightweight, comfortable, and offers quality sound for the price. Despite a few complaints here and there, such as the middling mic quality, my experience was nothing short of great, and with some tweaks, Corsair may have another hit on its hands similar to its previous entry.
