Apex Legends Season 23 ‘From The Rift’ Reworks Lifeline and Focuses on Support Legends
Apex Legends: From The Rift is the latest season, launching on November 5th. Following the excitement of Shockwave, From The Rift introduces several new features, including a rework of the Legend Lifeline, the addition of Rift Relics, significant enhancements for the Support Class, and other surprises.
Season 22 of Apex Legends brought numerous innovations. The cyberpunk-inspired map “E-District” and the dynamic gameplay with the popular akimbo twin pistols were particularly well-received by the community, setting high expectations for Season 23.
In the upcoming season, players can look forward to new cosmetics with the Rift Relics, including a universal mythic melee weapon, The Raptor’s Claw. Additionally, Lifeline has been reworked to align with the new revival mechanics introduced in Season 22, reaffirming her role as the combat medic.
Respawn Entertainment continues to prioritize anti-cheat measures, with ongoing efforts to enhance the gaming experience and ensure fair play throughout the new season.
Lifeline Revived
One of the most exciting updates in Apex Legends: From The Rift is the rework of the original Legend, Lifeline. As a beloved character, the developers aimed to make changes that felt organic. Similar to the rework of Revenant, such updates occur when the developers believe a Legend does not fully realize their intended vision. Lifeline, compared to other Legends, was lagging behind slightly.
Lifeline, while popular, needed a refresh to remain competitive. To keep pace with the evolving game, the developers enhanced her strengths as a combat medic and modernized her abilities. Her backstory has also been updated, featuring a new robotic appendage, with more details to be revealed as the season progresses.
Lifeline retains her combat revive ability, but her passive has been expanded. She can now grab and glide with Doc mid-air for a short duration, a feature inspired by Apex Legends story trailers. This ability helps her navigate challenging environments and maintain relevance in combat.
Her tactical ability has also been improved. Instead of hovering in place, Doc will now follow an assigned ally, providing healing. Lifeline can reassign Doc to different allies as needed, allowing for more dynamic support during battles.
Lifeline’s Ultimate has undergone significant changes. The outdated Care Package has been replaced with Doc’s Halo, a ring-shaped shield impervious to damage. Within this shield, players and enemies can receive fast heals and regenerating shields while the Ultimate is active. This feature offers a strategic advantage during intense battles, allowing for quick recovery. However, the shield is not a complete dome, leaving it vulnerable to attacks from above.
These updates make Lifeline a more versatile and active combat medic, enhancing her role and effectiveness in the game as a valuable party member for groups great for squads with melee characters requiring fast heals and shield regen assistance.
Legends Need Support Sometimes
The developers are enhancing the Legend Meta for Apex Legends’ Support class, following last season’s improvements to the Recon class. With significant updates to Lifeline, the Support class as a whole is receiving considerable attention, marking this as “The Season of Support” for Apex Legends.
Apex Legends: From The Rift introduces substantial class perks to reward players excelling in recovery and revival. The new “Heal Expert” perk ensures that Support Legends are no longer slowed by healing, and small meds will be used twice as efficiently. This change enhances mobility and survivability for Support players.
The “Revive Expert” perk allows Support classes to revive players 25% faster, with successful revivals granting health regeneration. Mobile respawn beacons will now dynamically spawn upon an ally’s fall, streamlining the process of getting teammates back into the fight. Consequently, Support players will no longer be able to craft banners, as this ability is now universal for all players.
Several Legends will see changes in the new meta. Gibraltar’s cooldown will be reduced from 13 seconds to 17 seconds, and he will receive two significant upgrades: “Big Brother,” which increases the area of his Ultimate, and “Fast Shotty,” which auto-reloads his shotgun and allows him to run like Maggie.
Conduit’s passive ability will extend to ally death boxes without range limitations, enabling her to reach downed allies more quickly. Newcastle’s mobile shield will no longer take damage and can be controlled while downed. His revive shield’s strength will increase by 50% per tier. Additionally, he will receive two new upgrades: “Hero’s Hustle,” which boosts his movement speed while reviving, and “Alduin’s Savior,” providing 15 seconds of shield regeneration to any ally within the castle wall when deployed.
Stay tuned for further improvements to other Support Legends as Apex Legends: From The Rift launches. This focus on Support Legends aims to encourage all Apex Legends players to explore and appreciate the enhanced support roles.
Rift Relics
As Season 23 of Apex Legends approaches, Cosmic Rifts have begun to open, bringing with them exceptional new loot. Players can follow the lightning to discover these loot ticks, which contain a variety of new weapons and items known as Rift Relics. These relics draw from the rich histories of both Apex Legends and Titanfall, evoking a sense of nostalgia for long-time players.
Rift Relics can be obtained through Pubs modes, as well as the newly revived Trios and Straightshot Revival Modes. Some Rift Relics include sub-categories like Boost Kits, which add passive or active slots when equipped in the survival slot. For example, the Hover Kit allows Legends to hover in mid-air for a short duration.
Additionally, players can access powerful Relic Weapons. Notably, the EPG-1, an anti-Titan weapon from Titanfall, makes its debut in Apex Legends. Another highlight is the Raptor’s Claw, a Universal Mythic Melee weapon that offers unique animations for different Legends, balancing form and function.
Ranked Updates will see a reduction in skill mixing. High-skilled players will not be matched with newcomers, especially at the start of the season. While complete prevention is not possible, matchmaking will ensure players are paired with others of similar skill levels from Day 1. This transparency in matchmaking allows players to better understand what to expect.
Apex Legends is now available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, mobile, and Nintendo Switch.
