In a nutshell
- Rockstar brings back the six‑star wanted system with new layers of realism
- Players can conceal identity, swap clothes, and ditch vehicles to evade cops
- Jason & Lucia can split up during pursuits, adding tactical gameplay depth
Rockstar Games is pushing immersion to new heights with Grand Theft Auto VI’s revamped wanted system, which has been described as the most dynamic in the franchise’s history.

Six‑Star Wanted System Returns in Grand Theft Auto VI
According to a preview from IGN, the system in Grand Theft Auto VI reintroduces the six‑star wanted level while layering in mechanics that make escaping the law more challenging and creative than ever.
Players can now conceal their identity during crimes by wearing masks or face coverings, and removing the disguise afterward can help avoid detection. Cops can also track the exact vehicle you’re driving, forcing players to ditch cars and swap rides out, which is something we saw during the Netflix Extended Look.
The system goes further by having police learn your physical features and clothing over time, meaning a quick outfit change or haircut can reset their recognition. Rockstar even lets players store spare clothes in their vehicle’s trunk, allowing players to make a quick getup change to shake the cops off.

Tactical Escapes With Jason & Lucia
Escaping past level three wanted stars in Grand Theft Auto VI requires a more tactical approach from players this time around. Players will need faster vehicles, enough to outrun the cops that are in pursuit, or by leading them into areas on foot that cannot be accessed by cars, all within the side streets of Leonida.
Jason and Lucia can also split up during pursuits, with one drawing police attention while the other slips away. Success depends on coordination, as players must wait for confirmation that both protagonists have escaped before regrouping.
