Steam Deck owners just got a major upgrade because the Asobi: Remote Play app now supports PS Plus Premium cloud streaming, meaning you can play PlayStation titles directly from Sony’s cloud servers without owning a PS5 or buying a PS Portal.
Asobi App – Premium Features Unlocked
During the public playtest, all premium features are available for free, including 60fps streaming, HDR visuals, controller haptics, 4K upscaling, and manual bitrate control. Once the test ends, the free tier will revert to 1080p/30fps, with pricing for premium access yet to be announced.
Steam Deck Easy Access and Wide Compatibility
The app runs natively on Steam Deck, Steam Machine, and Linux devices without needing desktop mode or external software. A Windows version is also planned. While Asobi isn’t affiliated with the Sony studio of the same name, Valve, or Steam, it effectively bypasses the need for Sony’s $250 PS Portal, offering a cheaper alternative for players who want to stream titles like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Borderlands 4, and Astro Bot.
