Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially launched the PlayStation Family App, a new mobile tool designed to empower parents with greater control over their children’s gaming experience.

Available now on iOS and Android, the app builds on the existing parental controls found on PS4 and PS5, and introduces a suite of features that streamline family management across PS consoles.

• Guided Onboarding Parents can easily set up child accounts with a step-by-step onboarding process.
• Real-Time Notifications Get instant alerts when a child launches a game, requests extra playtime, or attempts to access restricted content.
• Activity Reports View daily and weekly summaries of playtime and game activity to stay informed.
• Playtime Management Set daily limits and approve or decline additional playtime requests directly from your mobile device.
• Spending Controls Add funds, monitor balances, and set monthly spending caps for purchases on the PlayStation Store.
• Content Filters Apply age-appropriate presets or customize settings for each child’s profile.
• Social Interaction Settings Manage how children connect and communicate with others online.

According to Cory Gasaway, VP of Product Management at Sony Interactive Entertainment, the app represents a major step forward in PlayStation’s commitment to safe and responsible gaming. “We’re excited to bring an easy way for parents to manage their children’s gaming directly from their mobile devices,” Gasaway said.

The PlayStation Family App is compatible with iOS 14 and Android 8 or higher, and is available for download on the App Store and Google Play in most markets starting today.
