Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia has announced the worldwide launch of ACE COMBAT 8: Wings of Theve, the first new mainline entry in the beloved flight-shooting franchise in seven years.
Developed by Bandai Namco Aces Inc., the latest installment aims to elevate the series with stunning new-generation visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5 and proprietary technology, delivering what the publisher describes as its most immersive aerial combat experience yet.
Available now in Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition, the game launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
ACE COMBAT Reaches New Heights
Building on the franchise’s signature blend of arcade-style action and military aviation drama, ACE COMBAT 8 features a lineup of real-world fighter aircraft, expansive cloud formations, highly detailed environments, and dynamic weather systems that can directly impact missions.
Players can also expect cinematic storytelling sequences presented from a first-person perspective, bringing them closer than ever to the conflict unfolding in the skies.
A New War Begins in Theve
Set within the series’ fictional universe, ACE COMBAT 8 tells the story of a homeland under siege. The Federation of Central Usea (FCU) has fallen to the invading Republic of Sotoa, leaving its military fragmented and its citizens struggling to survive. Players take on the role of Jan Cope, better known by his callsign “Rex” and his legendary nickname, “Wings of Theve.”
Fighting alongside fellow Joker Flight pilots Baxter, Tasha, and Coster, players will battle enemy squadrons, rival aces, and overwhelming military forces in a campaign where the fate of the FCU hangs in the balance.

ACE COMBAT 8 introduces the franchise’s most ambitious online experience to date. Pilots can customize their mercenary avatars and gather in the new Air Base social hub, which supports up to 100 players. Cross-play functionality allows players across all platforms to squad up and compete together.
