October 2021 Game Releases – Alan Wake Remastered, Far Cry 6, Metroid Dread!
October is finally here! Game season is upon us and what a year it has been – filled with delays, more delays, and even more delays.
September was a fantastic preview of what’s to come and it only ramps up from here. From shooters to party games and even to a highly-anticipated remaster, the roster October 2021 Game Releases show no sign of letting up, featuring a wide variety of releases that everyone can enjoy whether on PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo.
Barring any further delays, here is a bumper crop of your AAA prime cuts.
October 2021 Game Releases
Pick of the Month 1: Alan Wake Remastered
Release Date: October 5, 2021
Platform: PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One
Alan Wake, one of the precursors to Remedy’s fantastic Control, was a fantastic stealth survival horror for the Xbox 360 that has an ingenious mechanic of using light to combat terrors.
A decade later, we get to experience the horror on other platforms in all its remastered glory. Definitely a must-play.
Farcry 6
Release Date: October 7, 2021
Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series
Taking on the shoes of Dani Rojas, who leads a guerrilla uprising that’s set to liberate Yara from a ruthless Anton Castillo, played by none other than Giancarlo Esposito.
Farcry 6 will feature some really off-the-wall mechanics such as a Macarena CD Launcher or a Guerrilla Rocket Pack that will tear through your foes with the might of a revolution.
Metroid Dread
Release Date: October 8, 2021
Platform: Nintendo Switch
It ain’t Metroid Prime 4, but we’re getting treated to a brand new 2D title in Metroid Dread. It’s been a long time coming and we’re finally getting a modernized take on the classic gameplay that defined a genre. Coming exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, it’s a perfect pair for the upcoming OLED model as well!
Back 4 Blood
Release Date: October 12, 2021
Platform: PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, PC
As the spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead, Back 4 Blood has some big shoes to fill. Looking to bring back the fun and frantic approach to zombie shooters, Back 4 Blood is shaping up quite well if the recent beta phase was any indication and should be one to look out for this month.
Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles

Anime fans rejoice! Demon Slayer, one of the most popular anime IPs up to date, is getting their first licensed game from SEGA and it’s looking like something to watch out for. Featuring all of your favorite characters from the Anime, your breathing techniques will surely intensify in a few weeks.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes

As a follow-up to last year’s Little Hope, The Dark Pictures Anthology is set to release its latest installment this month with House of Ashes. This time we’re taking on a doomed military squad who runs into a cursed burial site that’s sure to provide a scare. Or two.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Here’s something that’ll get you hooked on that feeling.
