Sony has announced that God of War Ragnarok has sold 5.1 million copies in its first week on both PS4 and PS5, making it the fastest-selling first-party game in PlayStation history and a franchise record for God of War.

Prior to this record, The Last of Us: Part II sold 4 million copies in three days, edging out Marvel’s Spider-Man, which sold 3.3 million in three days.

As a comparison, the 2018 release of God of War saw 3.1 million units in three days.

Our review of the game called it an effort that exceeds the first game in all aspects, and has been on the receiving end of multiple perfect scores across critics and media outlets worldwide.

God of War Ragnarok is now available for the PS4 and PS5.
