IGN announces “Summer of Gaming” event this June

In lieu of E3 being cancelled for 2020, IGN have announced their own gaming event entitled “Summer of Gaming”, described as a “digital event set to begin this June to bring you the latest news and impressions around upcoming games and the next generation of console hardware.”

Basically, IGN’s version of E3, yeah?

IGN is not skimping on this one. Already reported to be working with various developers and publishers like Square Enix, Sega, Bandai Namco, 2K, Devolver Digital, Stadia, and much more, they will also be including publisher presentations, interviews, and demos among others. Think of it as an online E3, thus making it more accessible to a wider audience worldwide.

Peer Schneider, Chief Content and Product Officer at IGN states that “With the next generation of console gaming kicking off later this year and gamers eager to learn more about what games they’ll be playing on their new hardware, our online event will be a key moment for publishers and developers to connect with the audience worldwide,”

Yael Prough, IGN General Manager expresses excitement for the event, saying that “More and more people are turning towards video games for entertainment and escapism. Last week we saw new records for traffic across all of our platforms — we’re excited to bring this Global, Digital Event to our audiences and partners- as this will be an event not to be missed,”

We’ll be waiting on IGN to spill more details on this event as the weeks go by.
