During the 20th Anniversary Event of the franchise, Square Enix has announced Kingdom Hearts IV and is confirmed to be in development.

The announcement was made through a nearly 8-minute trailer that shows some of the upcoming updates and titles that we can expect such as the finale of Kingdom Hearts Union Cross and a new game called Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link that will have a closed beta test sometime in 2022.
At around the 4:05 mark of the video, you can see a somewhat realistic looking setting, with Sora awakening in a world called “Quadratum” after being asleep for 7 days. The visuals are a huge step up from the typical Kingdom Hearts games, which offered a more cartoony look.

Apart from this new entry being confirmed to be in development, there are no details such as a release window or platforms at the moment, so we’ll have to wait a while longer for that.
