The Philips 559M1 Momentum aims to be your all-in-one entertainment solution

Shopping around for a TV or Monitor is not exactly an easy task. Apart from the various tech specs and jargon that the average consumer won’t be able to understand right away, there are simply too many out there to choose from.
Add miscellaneous items like a soundbar and some ambient lighting solutions, and you’ve got a headache waiting to happen.

Enter the Philips 559M1 Momentum, the first “designed for Xbox” monitor that can also be the all-in-one entertainment solution for your home.

The Philips 559M1 Momentum is the latest offering from Philips and is designed for the true console gaming enthusiast. It features a 55″ screen that was built with the Xbox Series X in mind, giving you an optimal viewing experience out of the box.

4K 120FPS Console Gaming for the enthusiast

Carrying 3 HDMI 2.1 ports, the Philips 559M1 Momentum can take on any current-gen console out in the market today, especially the Xbox Series X. The display is built for low-latency gaming and also has VRR capabilities, so slight frame drops will almost be unrecognizable while playing your favorite game on a VRR-ready console like the Series X.

We tested the Philips 559M1 Momentum on a number of Xbox Series X titles – Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Forza Horizon 4, and The Ascent. Each title performed admirably, with crisp details and smooth gameplay that left us impressed.

PC Gaming? Not a problem as well since the Philips 559M1 Momentum is also capable of 4K 144hz refresh rates for PC Gamers looking for a monitor that can handle the latest games.

The perfect companion for your Xbox Series X.

The Philips 559M1 Momentum is also VESA-certified DisplayHDR 1000 ensuring that your HDR experience brings whiter whites and deeper blacks. There are 3 HDR modes you can utilize depending on your need – HDR Game, HDR Movie, and HDR Photo.

It also has a LowBlue mode to reduce eye strain from long hours of gaming.

Integrated Bowers & Wilkins Soundbar pushes impressive audio

Displays don’t usually have a good track record when it comes to built-in speakers, which is why the Philips 559M1 Momentum dares to stand out with its integrated Bowers & Wilkins soundbar.

Bowers & Wilkins is a British company that produces some of the most impressive (and expensive) consumer and professional audio devices and for the Philips 559M1 Momentum, they created a soundbar that already includes an integrated woofer, high-quality midrange drivers, and tweeters that pushes out great audio without sacrificing clarity.

During our playthrough, we tried placing the volume on maximum much to the regret of our ears, but we’re happy to say that the audio output was never distorted nor did the audio clarity ever break. Even at maximum volume, the sound was crisp, and although there probably won’t be a time when you’ll need to use it at maximum, you can rest easy in the fact that these speakers can easily handle it.

Being integrated into the bottom part of the display makes it a great solution instead of purchasing a separate soundbar that may or may not fit under your TV.

Philips AmbiGlow Technology to set the mood

There are quite a number of lighting solutions out there but instead of purchasing external LED strips or lighting panels on your wall, you can save wall space with the integrated AmbiGlow lighting on the Philips 559M1 Momentum.

AmbiGlow lighting makes part of the display chassis without needing to install a separate lighting solution on your walls. Because this is integrated into the set, it has the capability to accurately capture the image content being shown, changing color and brightness to provide an immersive experience.

Controls for the AmbiGlow lighting can be tweaked as needed depending on your preference. You can choose to have it remain static, pulse, or wave, or even make it follow either audio or video cues. There are a number of options to choose from and you can set it to your liking easily from the menu of the display.

Multiple Ports for all your viewing needs

When we said all-in-one solution, we meant that the Philips 559M1 Momentum can also be integrated into your PC setup thanks to its multiple HDMI and USB ports. Its USB-C port is power delivery-ready and can be used to charge supported devices.

The Philips 559M1 Momentum has the following ports for use:

  • HDMI 2.1 x 3
  • DP 1.4 x 1
  • USB-C x 1 (DP Alt mode, PD 65W)
  • USB-B x 1 (upstream)
  • USB 3.2 x 4 (downstream with 2 fast charge B.C 1.2)

That’s a lot of ports.

Although its size does not make it ideal to be used as your primary PC display, you can augment your setup with the Philips 559M1 Momentum as a secondary display as the large real estate can be used especially for design and creative professionals.

Overall, the Philips 559M1 Momentum is a display that can cater to almost any entertainment requirement you need. It can handle your favorite consoles like the latest Xbox Series X, it can be your PC monitor, and even act as your home entertainment setup thanks to its integrated soundbar, making it a smart all-in-one solution for your media needs.

The Philips 559M1 Momentum is set to release this August in the Philippines and will retail for PHP70,490.
