The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt PS5 And Xbox Series Versions Delayed Indefinitely

Initially scheduled back in 2021 and then moved to Q2 2022, the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have now been delayed until further notice by CD Projekt Red.

The company has provided a reason for the delay, stating that the remaining work will now be handled by their in-house development team and is currently evaluating the remaining scope of work to be done. CDPR has also promised to update the eager gaming public as soon as they can and expresses gratitude for their understanding.

Prior to this, the current-gen versions of The Witcher 3 were being handled by Saber Interactive, the geniuses behind the Switch port of the same game. While it is not a reason stated, it could be possible that the recent events in Russia and Ukraine may have had something to do with this shift.

The current-gen versions of the game will “feature a range of visual and technical improvements — including ray tracing and faster loading times — across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content,” as mentioned in a post back in 2020. It will be offered as a standalone purchase but will also come as a free upgrade to those who already own a copy of the game.
