There are games with moderately large file sizes, like Demon’s Souls and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which will take up 66GB and 50GB respectively. There’s Red Dead Redemption, which hits at a little over 100GB for the PS4. Final Fantasy XV may even take upwards of 150GB if you’re playing it on a 4K enabled PC.

And then there’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

What started out at 175GB, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare no longer fits on a 250GB SSD, as pointed out by Twitter user BattleNonSense. You can’t even update the game anymore, even if you had dedicated that whole SSD to just the game alone.

Call of Duty updates and patches have been a running joke in the gaming community, seeing GB upon GB of updates that almost cost as much space as other full games. What’s worse is that the PC version of Call of Duty does not allow you to choose which components to install, unlike the PS4 and Xbox One versions, which asks what parts you want to install (single player campaign, multiplayer, warzone, etc).

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the latest game in the long running franchise and while it does not have any specified file size yet, it could be another big one if this trend continues.

Can you imagine Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on the 512GB SSD of the Xbox Series S? Yikes.
