God of War Ragnarok might release on the PS4 as well if an ex-Santa Monica employee is to be believed
God of War Ragnarok, the next installment in the highly acclaimed series, is a title we know very little of at the moment. Apart from the initial reveal, there hasn’t been a word from the devs apart from saying that it’ll release in 2021, this year. Well, an ex-Santa Monica emplyoee has said that it will release on the PS4 as well.
As Tweeted by Joe Miller, David Jaffe says on his stream that “Oh I’m sure the next God of War will be PS4 PS5. Of course it will.”, leading players to believe that it could very well be a cross-gen title similar to Horizon Forbidden West and Miles Morales.
Who is David Jaffe? Well, he was the Director of God of War and Creative Director for God of War II.
Before anyone gets too excited, Jaffe isn’t speaking in an official capacity, because he hasn’t been with the company for over a decade now, so obviously this is just his opinion.
One thing to consider is that the production and sales of the PS5 in various regions of the world have not been ideal, and if this continues to be the case, it would indeed be wise to make Ragnarok a cross-gen title since a lot of players are still stuck with their PS4’s, unable to upgrade due to whatever reason. Making Ragnarok a purely PS5 exclusive title with this consideration will leave a lot of people out of the game, which is probably why Horizon Forbidden West and Miles Morales made the cross-gen leap as well.
