Apart from the new controller reveal a couple of months ago, not much is known yet on Sony’s next-gen PSVR. It won’t be releasing this year, but a report by UploadVR citing “multiple sources” claims that Sony have already shared some details with partners, which include a resolution of 4000×2040 (compared to the PSVR’s 1920×1080), a lens separation adjustment dial, gaze tracking capable of foveated rendering, and a motor capable of providing haptic feedback on the headset.

For those not familiar with VR and the accompanying technology, a lot of this sounds like hi-tech mumbo jumbo, but to put it plainly, the next-gen VR unit will reportedly have eye-tracking capabilities that can possibly detect where you are looking at, including the addition of haptic feedback not only on the controllers, but on the headset itself.

Given that the reports are indeed true, this all sounds very exciting, especially for players that are looking forward to further PSVR support for the PS5, but at the same time, it does sound quite expensive as well. Local PSVR packages retail for PHP19,990, while the Oculus Quest 2 retails for nearly the same price, so it might stand to reason that the next-gen VR set would go for the same price, or even more.
