Fallout 5 Coming After Elder Scrolls 6, Todd Howard Confirms
Coming from the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, which showed off an extended look at Starfield gameplay, Todd Howard confirms that Fallout 5 is indeed coming, but only after The Elder Scrolls 6.
Fallout 5 is Confirmed
In an interview with IGN, Howard gave the assurance that a new Fallout game is coming, but they’ll be working on TES6 first. “Yes, Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s pretty full going forward for a while. We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well,” says Howard.
Fans of the game will certainly feel relieved to know that a new installment is coming, but based on Bethesda’s production pace, it will certainly be a while before this happens.
During the interview, Howard mentioned that work on Starfield started in late 2015, and considering a 2023 release date, it will have been over 7 years that the team has been working on the game. Given that TES6 is still in pre-production, it will indeed take some time for TES6 to even release, let alone the next Fallout title.
Howard also acknowledges the frustration of the fans, but assures them that they are doing the best they can – “They do take a while, I wish they came out faster, I really do, we’re trying as hard as we can, but we want them to be as best as they can be for everybody.”
In the meantime, players can look forward to Starfield, which is coming in 2023 for the Xbox Series and PC.
