Sony has Shipped 27.1 Million PS5 Consoles as of June 2022
Sony has announced its latest financial results for the Q1 of the 2022 fiscal year, which covers April to June 30, 2022, highlighting that the company has shipped 21.7 million units of the PS5 worldwide.
According to its recently published financial reports, 2.4 million PS5 units were sold, an increase of 0.1 million from the same period a year ago. PS5 Plus subscribers have also hit 47.3 million, which is also an increase from 46.3 million last year.
Additionally, Sony also indicates in their reports that software sales for both PS4 and PS5 have decreased quite significantly, down to 47.1 million units from 63.6 million units during the same time period last year. Digital sales accounted for 79% of the sales, which increased from its 71% figure last year.
Another segment that saw a decrease was PSN monthly active users, down to 102 million from 105 million last year. It would be interesting to see how the new PS Plus tiers will have an effect on these numbers, especially with the recent offerings like the addition of the full Yakuza series to the service.
