PS5 Firmware Update now Available, Adds 1440p Support and Much More

After just a little over a month in the software beta, the latest PS5 firmware update is now available, adding the highly-requested 1440p support and other welcome features.

As outlined on the PlayStation Blog, the firmware update will also bring in a number of features such as:

  • 1440p Support
  • Gamelists (Folders)
  • Compare 3D Audio and Stereo Audio
  • Easier Access to In-progress Activities
  • Request Share Screen
  • Joinable Game Notification
  • View New Friends’ Profiles
  • Send Stickers and Voice Messages in Game Base

The biggest feature here is the support for 1440p resolution, which will be quite useful for those who hook up their PS5 to a compatible gaming monitor over a TV set. Game folders, or gamelists as it is called, will add that extra layer of organization for those that like separating their games into different lists.

What do you think of the latest firmware update for the PS5?
