Saints Row Developer, Volition, Has Shut Down After 30 Years
Volition has announced that it will be shutting down, effective immediately, after 30 years in the industry.
As an update on LinkedIn, the company says that this was due to a restructuring program by the Embracer Group that “evaluated strategic and operational goals,” resulting in this unfortunate incident.
“This past June, Embracer Group announced a restructuring program to strengthen Embracer and maintain its position as a leader in the video game industry. As part of that program, they evaluated strategic and operational goals and made the difficult decision to close Volition effective immediately.”

Volition is the developer behind the Saints Row titles, a series that has been beloved by many for its wacky antics and fun gameplay. The Saints Row reboot wasn’t reviewed well by critics and was possibly a factor that led to this outcome.
The company also developed games such as Agents of Mayhem, Red Faction, and Descent.
