PGDX 2025 Indie Game Stars Awards Win to ‘PP Invasion’

The spotlight shone bright on the indie game development scene at PGDX 2025, as PP Invasion was officially crowned the People’s Choice Award winner under Indie Game Stars (IGS). Garnering the highest number of public votes during the 3-day showcase, the game earned a grand prize of ₱100,000.

Indie Game Stars is PGDX’s flagship platform dedicated to up-and-coming Filipino indie game developers, providing a stage to exhibit original games, connect with fans, and gain exposure to publishers, investors, and collaborators. It’s a celebration of raw creativity and innovation that lies at the heart of the local game dev community.

PP Invasion, developed by Alex E. Valdez, rose to the top after three days of exhibit engagement, community buzz, and active gameplay testing alongside a strong lineup of fellow indie titles. More than just a win, the award highlights the importance of public support in spotlighting homegrown talent and pushing the envelope for what’s possible in local game development.

Indie Game Stars at PGDX 2025 was made possible through the sponsorship of Sui Foundation, with program support from the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP) and SMART. Their combined efforts elevated the platform’s reach and impact, enabling more Filipino developers to showcase original titles to fans, publishers, and industry stakeholders.

Sui Foundation’s backing marked a significant investment in grassroots game development, reinforcing the global potential of Filipino-made games and fostering regional talent across Southeast Asia. SMART, a consistent supporter of IGS since its inception, continued its commitment for a third consecutive year, helping transform creative concepts into playable realities and empowering the local game dev community.
