Warhorse Studios, best known for the medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its sequel, is reportedly working on a new Lord of the Rings game.
According to a report by Insider Gaming, the studio has already moved on from its recent success with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and is now tackling one of fantasy’s most iconic universes.

What the Report Says About the Lord of The Rings Title
The report says that the Abu Dhabi Investment Office has made a sizable fund of “close to $100 Million” to bolster the creation of this third-person action game similar to Hogwarts Legacy.

A ResetEra post by user hiberner toujours points to comments from Ryszard Chojnowski, a 27-year industry veteran and former project lead on The Witcher. Speaking on the Tolkien Polska podcast, Chojnowski reportedly stated that Warhorse Studios is indeed the team developing the rumored Lord of the Rings game.
A few days ago there was a podcast where a Polish industry veteran Ryszard Chojnowski revealed that he has heard from credible sources that the studio working on that game is in fact Warhorse Studios, makers of Kingdom Come Deliverance, and also owned by Embracer. Apparently, he heard it a couple months ago already and didn’t believe it, but there have been more whispers about it recently.

The Czech developer has built a reputation for historically grounded RPGs, but this rumored project could be their transition into licensed fantasy. While details remain scarce, the idea of Warhorse tackling this IP is certainly worth keeping an eye on.
