Sony Pictures has officially announced an R-rated animated movie adaptation of Bloodborne, promising to stay “very true” to the spirit of the beloved PlayStation 4 classic.

McLoughlin has long championed Bloodborne’s gothic world and punishing gameplay to his community of over 48 million fans, and now brings that passion directly into the storytelling process.

Released in 2015 for PlayStation 4, the game quickly became a cult favorite thanks to its gothic horror setting, punishing combat, and rich lore. While this is not the new title fans have been waiting for, it is probably the next best thing.
