Valve has officially launched the long‑awaited Steam Machine, offering gamers a living‑room‑ready PC gaming device powered by SteamOS.

Steam Machine Price and Configurations

Starting today, players can sign up for a chance to reserve one of four available options:

• Steam Machine 512GB – $1,049 USD / €1,039 / £879
• Bundle (512GB + Steam Controller) – $1,128 USD / €1,108 / £938
• Steam Machine 2TB – $1,349 USD / €1,359 / £1,149
• Bundle (2TB + Steam Controller) – $1,428 USD / €1,428 / £1,208

The 2TB models also include two additional faceplates: red fabric and solid walnut. Prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable.

Why Prices Changed

Valve explained that global hardware costs, particularly RAM and storage, shifted dramatically since development began in 2023. This impacted both pricing and availability, limiting the number of units produced for launch.

Reservation System Details

To ensure fairness and reduce reseller activity, Valve is implementing a randomized reservation system:

• Signups are open until June 25, 2026 at 10 a.m. PT.
• On that date, reservations will be randomized into queues and waitlists.
• The first batch of purchase emails will be sent starting June 29, 2026, continuing throughout the year.

Customers must have a Steam account in good standing and have made a purchase prior to April 27, 2026. Signups are limited to one per household.

Steam Machine: Not a Console

Valve emphasized that Steam Machine is not a traditional console. Instead, it’s an extension of PC gaming’s open ecosystem, allowing players to enjoy SteamOS on dedicated hardware, or even on their own living‑room PCs with SteamOS 3.8.
