Danganronpa 2×2 Delayed to Early 2027, Adds Slayhem Mode and Enhanced World Map

In a nutshell

  • Danganronpa 2×2 delayed to early 2027.
  • New “Slayhem Mode” adds a fresh storyline with 20% more content.
  • Enhanced 3D World Map brings a tropical island atmosphere.

Publisher Spike Chunsoft and developer Gemdrops have announced that Danganronpa 2×2 will now launch in early 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch, and PC via Steam, moving away from its previously planned 2026 release window.

Danganronpa 2×2 Delay Details

Producer Shohei Sakakibara shared a message about the delay:

“While development has been progressing toward a 2026 release, we have decided to move the launch to early 2027. We sincerely appreciate your patience as development continues, and we look forward to sharing further updates with you soon.”

Slayhem Mode – A Dark New Scenario

Players can choose between two modes from the start:

  • Original Mode: A retelling of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair with enhanced visuals and updated presentation.
  • Slayhem Mode: A brand‑new scenario that diverges dramatically from the original storyline. A single incident sparks a chain of events with different victims, culprits, and tricks, offering about 20% more content than the Original mode.

A Revamped 3D World Map

Unlike the side‑scrolling map of the 2012 release, Danganronpa 2×2 introduces a 3D World Map. Players can freely explore the island or instantly travel to destinations, with a first‑person perspective that emphasizes the tropical atmosphere.
