In a nutshell
- League of Legends Classic launches July 29 in Patch 26.15
- Features 2013 Season 3-inspired gameplay, old Runes/Masteries, classic items, and a 60‑champ roster

Riot Games has announced that it is officially bringing players back to the early days of Summoner’s Rift with League of Legends Classic, launching on July 29, 2026 as part of Patch 26.15.
Anchored in the feel of 2013’s Season 3, League Classic revives the pacing, strategy, and champion identity that defined the game’s early years while still modernizing select systems for today’s players.
A Return to Old-School League of Legends
League Classic features a curated mix of early-era systems and content, including:
- Old-school Runes and Masteries
- Classic items and item combinations
- Classic Summoner Spells
- A 60-champion roster featuring the original 40 plus 20 champions released from 2009–2013
- Pre-rework kits for many champions
- A refreshed early Summoner’s Rift map with improved lighting, textures, and shadows
Riot emphasizes that combat pacing will feel closer to the old days, with champions having sharper strengths and weaknesses, encouraging more deliberate and strategic gameplay.
Executive Producer Paul Bellezza shares the team’s sentiment: “There’s real nostalgia there… We want League Classic to scratch that itch while still bringing something new to the table.”

Queues, Progression, and Classic Levels
At launch, players can jump into:
- PvP Draft Queue
- Co-op vs AI
- Custom Games
League of Legends Classic introduces Classic Levels, a free progression track that grants Runes, Masteries, IP, BE, cosmetics, and more. Upon reaching Classic Level 10, players begin their Summoner’s Journey, progressing from Salt to Legend.
Classic Skins, Portraits, and Seasonal Passes
League Classic also includes:
- Seasonal Classic Passes (free + paid tracks)
- Classic Skins recreating champion looks from 2009–2013
- Classic Chromas
- Portraits, a new cosmetic type featuring alternate loading screen splashes
Portraits rotate during loading screens, letting players show off their favorites. These cosmetics are exclusive to League Classic.
The Council: Community Voting
A new system called The Council lets players vote on future League Classic decisions, such as:
- Which champions to add next
- Which Classic Skins to develop
- Select gameplay changes
Players unlock voting access and additional voting power through Classic Levels and gameplay.
