Disney has announced that the globally renowned video game franchise Kingdom Hearts will be adapted into its first‑ever original anime series for Disney+.

Revealed during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the series (working title: Kingdom Hearts) is being developed in partnership with Square Enix and legendary creator Tetsuya Nomura, who will contribute to the project.

The anime will reimagine the iconic adventure with a brand‑new story, expanding the Kingdom Hearts universe while celebrating the characters that have captivated millions of fans worldwide.

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, shared: “Kingdom Hearts has captivated gamers everywhere with its unique blend of adventure and imagination… our new series will be unmistakably ‘Kingdom Hearts,’ while giving fans a whole new way to experience the world they love.”

The series joins Disney+ Philippines’ growing slate of original animated titles, alongside Dragon Striker, Phineas and Ferb, Big City Greens, and upcoming projects like Messi and the Giants, Warrior Cats, and Journey.
