Metro Redux Next-Gen Update Arrives This October as a Free Upgrade for Existing Owners

4A Games and Deep Silver have announced that the award-winning origins of the Metro saga are returning with the upcoming Metro Redux Next-Gen Update, a free upgrade for owners of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux.

The update launches on PC on October 22, followed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 29.

Metro Returns With Modern Enhancements

The Next-Gen Update is designed to preserve the atmosphere and identity of the original titles while leveraging modern hardware capabilities. Players can expect upgraded textures, richer environmental detail, refined lighting and shadows, enhanced animation fidelity, higher-quality audio, and a range of quality-of-life improvements.

On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, players can experience the Metro Redux titles at true 4K and 60FPS or upscaled 4K and 120FPS. The update also includes several platform-specific features:

  • PSSR support on PlayStation 5 Pro
  • TSR upscaling and anti-aliasing support on Xbox Series X
  • Spatial Audio support on Xbox platforms
  • DualSense Adaptive Trigger support on PS5
  • Xbox Impulse Trigger support
  • Xbox Play Anywhere support
  • Xbox Handheld support

PC Version Adds DLSS and Uncapped Frame Rates

PC players can enjoy 4K resolution with uncapped frame rates, alongside support for DLSS and Spatial Audio. Additional bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements will also be included across all platforms. Full patch notes will be released alongside each platform launch.
