Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3 “Journey to the Sky” Launches October 21 With New S-Rank Agents and Mech Combat

HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3 “Journey to the Sky” will launch on October 21, 2026, bringing two new S-Rank Agents, an expanded storyline centered around the sky island of Roscaelifer, and a brand-new mech combat gameplay system.
The upcoming update continues the escalating conflict surrounding Roscaelifer, where the entire island of Booastrum has been placed under lockdown. With Quietude Isle’s skyport under occupation, former rivals Phoenix and Severian are forced into an uneasy alliance as players move closer to uncovering the secrets behind the three Sunbringers and their mysterious Karma Cores.
Phoenix and Severian Lead the Charge
The first half of Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3 introduces Phoenix, an S-Rank Fire Anomaly Agent serving as the Krampus Compliance Authority’s combat specialist. Her unique abilities allow Anomaly damage to trigger critical hits on affected enemies, while her powerful Rebirth mechanic lets her revive with full health after receiving a fatal blow. Phoenix will launch alongside her signature S-Rank W-Engine, Plume of Rebirth.
Arriving during the second half of the Zenless Zone Zero update is Severian, an S-Rank Wind Attack Agent and senior commissioner of New Eridu Public Security. His combat style revolves around automatic dodges, counterattacks, and chaining powerful slashes through accumulated Energy. Severian will debut alongside the S-Rank W-Engine Incarcerating Grip.
Players can also look forward to reruns for Velina and her W-Engine Joyau Dore during the first half, while Norma and Chief Sidekick return in the second half.
New Mech Combat Gameplay Debuts
One of Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3’s biggest additions is a fully playable mech combat system integrated into the main story. Using Lindverne’s Karma Core power, “Genesis Reconstruction,” Proxies will gain access to High Ambitions Corp. combat mechs and engage enemies from inside powerful machines.
The mechs feature interchangeable melee and ranged combat modes, while EX Special Attacks and successful evasions can trigger devastating laser attacks. Environmental interactions also play a key role, letting players use explosive objects and heavy attacks to solve puzzles and gain advantages during combat encounters. HoYoverse confirmed that this gameplay feature will continue to appear in future updates.
Seasonal Events and New Rewards
Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3 packs several limited-time events for players to enjoy.
The Night of Supernatural Tricks event sees Lumina Square businesses teaming up with the HIA Club’s new VR attraction, Spooky Funhouse Tales. Players will use various Trickmobiles to drive away unwanted visitors while earning rewards that include an Angels of Delusion outfit, a new A-Rank W-Engine, and fresh Proxy accessories.
Other featured events include:
- Cyber Miracle Healer, on Duty!, where players repair malfunctioning Bangboo.
- Trails of the Hobbling Crow, a mystery-focused investigation event.
- Repair! Drifting Art, which tasks players with restoring lost artwork fragments.
- Returning Area Patrol and Combat Simulation double-drop events.
Meanwhile, the permanent gameplay mode Enigma of the Labyrinth receives a seasonal refresh titled Spooky Trial, introducing a new challenge system led by the self-proclaimed instructor Master Devil.
Quality-of-Life Improvements Arrive
HoYoverse is also rolling out several player-friendly improvements in Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.3.
Fairy will now provide team recommendations based on a player’s roster, including suggested team compositions, strategies, and operational tips. Recommended teams can be applied instantly through preset configurations. Exclusive tutorial videos for selected Agents will also be introduced, helping players better understand advanced mechanics.
Additional improvements include enhanced challenge recommendations for permanent combat modes, clearer Inter-Knot progression guidance, and login rewards totaling 10 Encrypted Master Tapes and 10 Boopons.
