Square Enix has trademarked “Tactics Ogre: Reborn” in Japan, leading many to believe that a new game or entry in the series may be on its way.

A new Tactics Ogre game?

As spotted by Gematsu and Renka_Schedule on Twitter (via Nibel), a filing made by Square Enix is causing a stir in the community at the moment, cautiously excited at what this could mean for the franchise. It should be noted that Square Enix has NOT announced anything about this, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for more developments on this front.

More often than not, trademarks or copyrights don’t really mean anything but interestingly, Tactics Ogre: Reborn was one of the many titles leaked in that massive GeForce Now list late last year, prompting many to believe that there could be something happening since quite a number of games from that list have now been proven to be actual released products like Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition.

At the moment, while nothing has been made official by Square Enix, an exercise in caution is well-advised but it would be really good to see a new Tactics Ogre game come to modern consoles.
