Switch 2 to be Announced ‘Within This Fiscal Year,’ Nintendo Direct Scheduled for June

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has announced that the highly anticipated Switch successor, or Switch 2 as it is more easily known, will be announced within this fiscal year, which is set to end on March 31, 2025.
Additionally, Furukawa reveals that a Nintendo Direct will be happening in June that will showcase the lineup of games that players can look forward to in the latter half of 2024. That said, the Direct will hold no mention of the Switch 2, keeping expectations in check.
“We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015.”
“We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.”
The Switch 2 has been heavily rumored over the past year, with reports ranging from the console being shown behind closed doors during Gamescom to leaks saying that it will have magnetic connectors for its new Joy-Cons.
