SEGA has released a full breakdown of new gameplay systems and features coming to Persona 4 Revival, the modern remake of the beloved ATLUS RPG.

The game launches on February 18, 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, Windows, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 5, and Steam, with pre-orders now available.

Persona 4 Revival – Revamped combat with new mechanics

The remake introduces several new battle features that expand strategy and combo potential:

  • Guarding in dungeons – Players can now defend against Shadow attacks outside of battle, staggering enemies for a counterattack.
  • Send Enemies Flying – Strike a status‑afflicted Shadow to launch it into another enemy, spreading the ailment.
  • Baton Pass – Pass your 1 More turn to an ally to chain knockdowns and extend combos.
  • Prime Time – A powerful new mechanic that allows consecutive actions, free skill usage, resistance bypassing, and a flashy Series Finale finisher.

Classic Persona combat returns with enhanced visuals, improved UI, and expanded skill animations.

Daily life, Social Stats, and new activities

Players can freely explore Inaba, participate in school life, and build relationships with characters across town. Social Stats like Knowledge, Courage, Diligence, Understanding, and Expression return and are required to unlock certain activities, jobs, and Social Links.

Strengthening Social Links grants new combat abilities and Persona fusion bonuses, making daily choices more impactful than ever.

Explore the TV World with new depth

Dungeon crawling has been expanded in Persona 4 Revival with improved enemy behavior, new ambush mechanics, and enhanced exploration tools. Ambushing Shadows triggers Chance Encounters, while getting caught off guard allows enemies to strike first.

Players can also guard during exploration to repel Shadow attacks, which is an entirely new feature for the remake.

Persona fusion and customization return

The Velvet Room once again allows players to fuse Personas, inherit skills, and create powerful new combinations. Personas level up through battle, unlocking new abilities and opening more strategic options.
