Grand Theft Auto VI Campaign Length: 80 Hours of Story

Rockstar Games is setting new records with Grand Theft Auto VI, as producer Rob Nelson revealed that his own playthrough of the game took nearly 80 hours to complete. This includes the main story and optional goals with narrative consequences, making it the longest Rockstar title to date.

For comparison, Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V averaged around 30 hours, while Red Dead Redemption 2 stretched to 50–60 hours.

Leonida’s Expansive Side Activities

The extended runtime isn’t just about the campaign. Leonida, the new setting inspired by Florida, is brimming with side activities that expand immersion far beyond the main missions. Players can dive into rally racing, basketball, kayaking, jet skiing, and even cave diving. Leisure pursuits like fishing, sunbathing, and lifting weights add flavor, while nightlife missions such as strip clubs and throwing money at performers bring the city’s culture to life.

More extreme thrills include base‑jumping, parachuting, and dirt bike races, ensuring that every session feels unique.

Jason and Lucia’s Partnership and Gameplay Evolution

The previews also highlight Criminal Profiles, a system that tracks player notoriety, alongside nuanced carjacking mechanics and dynamic NPC reactions. These features, combined with Jason & Lucia’s Bonnie‑and‑Clyde‑style partnership, promise a more emotionally charged and replayable experience.

Their relationship introduces optional romance mechanics and dual‑player gameplay, redefining how character switching works in the series.
