- Vice City alone is 11x bigger than Los Santos, promising unprecedented scale
It’s a big day for Rockstar Games and Grand Theft Auto VI, as multiple previews and a ton of new information have dropped following the Netflix Extended Look. After revealing a main story of around 80 hours and a six-star wanted level, we now have details about the map size.

Grand Theft Auto VI Map Size
According to YouTuber TGG, Leonida’s map is twice the size of GTA V and three times larger than Red Dead Redemption 2. Vice City itself is twice the size of Los Santos, while its surrounding suburbs are reportedly 11 times bigger than Los Santos’ outskirts. This scale promises diverse gameplay opportunities, from sprawling urban chases to rural exploration.

Rockstar also revealed to the New York Times that Grand Theft Auto VI features a staggering 600,000 unique animations, dwarfing the 55,000 in GTA V and the 300,000 in Red Dead Redemption 2. These animations cover everything from combat and driving to nuanced NPC behavior and environmental details.
Studio co‑head Aaron Garbut emphasized that “every room in the game” has been meticulously crafted, down to wall photos, table marks, and character tattoos, emphasizing Rockstar’s obsession with realism.

The combination of animation fidelity and map scale positions Grand Theft Auto VI as Rockstar’s most ambitious project yet. Players can expect seamless transitions, organic NPC interactions, and a world that feels alive at every level.
