Ghost of Tsushima breaks digital sales record, sells 1.9 million units in July
Ghost of Tsushima has been a big hit both for Sucker Punch and for Sony. It has broken many records and just last July, it added another notch to its belt by selling 1.9 digital copies, making it the fastest selling new PlayStation IP in digital.
In a report from GamesIndustry and as posted by SuperData, Ghost of Tsushima was a big hit in the digital space, partly due to the prevailing conditions brought about by COVID, but it does not discount the fact that users have really gone on to enjoy Jin Sakai’s journey, making for one of the best Metacritic user scores for this generation.
In comparison, critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn took two months to sell the same amount of copies.
Because of this, Ghost of Tsushima went on to become the highest grossing digital title in July, followed by powerhouses Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, FIFA 20, NBA 2K20, and Grand Theft Auto V, with The Last of Us Part II making an appearance as well alongside the recently released Paper Mario: The Origami King.
Our review of Ghost of Tsushima calls it “a tremendous open-world cinematic experience” and with a free multiplayer update coming later this year called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, you can expect more good things from this Sucker Punch masterpiece.
Ghost of Tsushima is now available exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
