Dying Light 2 Has Free Next-Gen Upgrades, No Cross-Play And Cross-Gen Play On Launch

We have around 2 weeks to go until we finally get to experience Dying Light 2, and Techland has dropped a ton of information over the weekend for those looking forward to another parkour-filled adventure.

Dying Light 2 Upgrade and Cross-Play Details

First off, if you haven’t gotten yourself a PS5 or Xbox Series yet, you’ll be glad to know that your PS4 or Xbox One purchase of the game will offer a free next-gen upgrade, so you won’t have to shell out for extra once you finally get your new console.

With some good news comes some bad news, and Dying Light 2 will be limiting players from playing with other generations in the meantime. At launch, cross-play and cross-gen play will be disabled, meaning if you’re playing on the PS5, you’ll only get to play with fellow PS5 users. No PC or Xbox users, and not even PS4 players as well.

Thankfully though, there is an extensive co-op in the game, and according to Techland, you’ll be able to “play AND finish Dying Light 2 Stay Human in the co-op mode” which apparently includes the epilogue.

Dying Light 2 Display Modes

A video was also released, detailing the various display modes that players will get on their PS5, which you can check out in the video below:

  • Quality Mode with Ray Tracing
  • Resolution Mode – 4K
  • Performance mode – 60+ FPS

It would be safe to assume that the Xbox Series family will have the same modes as well.
