NBA 2K21 now has unskippable ads

Not good, man.

It seems that with the launch of NBA 2K21 MyTEAM season 2, a new feature has dropped along with it but not exactly one that will please the fans of this full priced game.

According to a video from YouTube channel Stevivor, ads now play during the loading times in between matches. One more thing about these ads? They’re unskippable.

On one hand, this is during the loading sequence, so it can be argued that you’ll have to wait anyways for the game to load. On the other hand, this is a full priced game, so these kinds of things are not common practice.

With the coming of the next-gen consoles next month, the hardware will allow for very little loading time, so this could be meaningless unless it were truly unskippable. EA recently pulled this stunt with UFC 4 but removed it soon after due to the massive backlash they received from the fans and we’re expecting the same here.

Our review of NBA 2K21 pointed to it being an incremental upgrade, with the game not introducing enough to merit a full priced purchase. Next-gen versions of NBA 2K21 looks like a more suitable purchase based on what we’ve seen so far, but no verdict on that just yet until the game releases next month.
