The Callisto Protocol is a new sci-fi horror game from the creators of Dead Space

There may be no new Dead Space game yet, but a game from the creators of the classic sci-fi survival horror named The Callisto Protocol could be the next best thing.

Striking Distance Studios, headed by Glen Schofield, revealed The Callisto Protocol during The Game Awards 2020, and if anything, could be a real dead-ringer for something fans of the now dormant franchise and is set to be released in 2022.

IGN had an interview with Schofield, saying “I’m looking forward to really trying to make the scariest game on next-gen platforms [and PC]. From what I hear — it’s hard to be the creative and talk nicely about it — but from what I hear… [Dead Space] was one of the scarier games of [its generation] and I want to do the same on next-gen, or what’s considered now the current-gen.”

Also, interestingly enough, IGN had uncovered throughout the interview that this game will be set within the PUBG universe. That’s right, I’m baffled as you are, but Schofield goes on to say that “the funny thing is, I came in with this story when I went and met with the PUBG people for the first time and started talking about [The Callisto Protocol] and building a studio. I presented this game to them, and so what we did was we made it fit within the PUBG storyline.”

As to how that works, we’ll have to wait for more details, but it definitely will be a third-person survival horror game and not a battle royale.
