E3 2020 may have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak but the ESA have already announced the dates for the next E3 according to GamesIndustry and it will be scheduled on June 15-17 of 2021.

It was noted that a number of companies like Sony and even personalities like Geoff Keighley have skipped out on E3 2020 but even without the annual gaming event, Microsoft and Ubisoft are pushing through with digital events for their own updates, especially for the next generation announcements.

Will the ESA (and E3) have a digital event this year as well? No news on that yet but they were quoted with saying that they are ” exploring options with our members to coordinate an online experience to showcase industry announcements and news in June 2020.”
